Championship Fixtures

The Championship welcomes five new clubs this season. Luton Town surprised everyone by promoting to the Premier League last season, while they still played in the National League in 2009. Burnley and Sheffield United appeared to be too strong for the Championship, as well, and they’ll try to stay in the Premier League next season. The Championship season of 2022/23 ended disappointing for Reading, Blackpool and Wigan Athletic. All three clubs relegated to the League One.

English power houses Southampton and Premier League champions of 2015/16, Leicester City, can proof they actually belong in the Premier League this season. They’ll make an attempt at promoting to the Premier League together with teams such as Middlesbrough, Coventry City and Sunderland.

The opening game of the season will take place on August 4 at the Hillsborough Stadium, where Sheffield Wednesday will take on Southampton. The Championship season of 2023/24 will end on the fourth of May. Watford FC will compete against Middlesbrough, and many other matches will be played that day.
